- Mitt said he's not raising taxes, but lowering deductions (EIC, mortgage deductions, etc). Limited deductions means a higher base to tax.......I'm not a math whiz but doesn't this increase ones total tax liability? Not that I work with taxes on almost a daily bases or anything.
